The quiet contemplative images of self-taught Canterbury-born artist Adrienne Elze Wit, suggest multiple possibilities that allow the viewer to become immersed and combined with the subject.

The artists formative years were spent in Europe, England, Australia and Fiji with a recent return to Aotearoa. Her years abroad have exposed her to other world views and the business and complicated nature of life. Her work primarily focuses on light, nostalgia and the empty with the hope that this invokes deep peace in contrast to her life and temperament. She hopes to create a space of feeling and stillness for the viewer.

While Photography remains her main medium, Elze has begun a love affair with the three dimensional bringing her cerebral concepts into the realm of fabrication. Her subject matter has become more personal with a focus on womanhood, motherhood, death, loss and rebirth and transformation.
